THE HOTEL: The Hilton Cologne hotel in central Cologne, 110 yards from the main train station and at the heart of the business and shopping district. Cologne's Old Town and Koelner Dom Cathedral are a five-minute walk away. Cologne-Bonn Airport is just 11 miles away.
CHECK-IN: One and then two members of very polite and helpful staff quickly came to assist; check-in was quick and efficient.
THE ROOM: A nice sized room featuring a comfortable doulbe bed with crisp linen, large desk with ergonomic chair, plenty of drawer and hanging space. The bathroom was a little bit on the small side but had a large mirror with good lighting, sink, toilet and bath/shower. The room was rather warm despite the air conditioning being on.
THE BUSINESS: There's wireless internet access available throughout the hotel with meeting rooms, a business centre and a photo copying service also available.
THE FACILITIES: The ground floor features the reception desk, a sofa area with flyers and leaflets with local information, and the modern restaurant Konrad, where you can dine a la carte on an extensive international menu. There is also a lobby café and bar where you can sink into a cosy armchair and listen to the live jazz piano. If you fancy something a bit more chic, why not try the Ice Bar for a signature designer shot served in a glass made with ice.
THE VERDICT: A good Hilton hotel, with comfortable rooms, friendly and accommodating staff, and contemporary bar/restaurant areas. Good value for money.
